A friend of mine asked me, what do the paintings mean? They can mean anything you want, I answered. That being true I also thought that this answer was a little too easy. So what does abstract art mean to me? When an abstract painting touches me, it can have the effect that I look at ordinary things in a new light. For example: A section of a wall with the lines and structures that are there. A small piece of earth with patches of weed and little stones in different colours. A section of cloud and sky. Letting my eyes rest on the details of a defined area, taking it all in without thinking about what it is, the same way I look at an abstract painting. And then looking at things this way, sometimes inspires a painting.
